If you’re like me, then you’ve always had a burning desire to travel. But for some reason, you haven’t been able to do it yet—maybe it’s because of money constraints or maybe it’s because you’re worried about going somewhere alone. Whatever the reason may be, there are ways that you can get out of your comfort zone and explore new places successfully. The key is to make sure that wherever you go, there are people around who know the area well so they can help guide your trip through unfamiliar territory. Here are some tips on how to travel somewhere new!

Find your best source.

The first step in your trip is to find the best source of information. You can go to Google, TripAdvisor, Yelp or other websites that have reviews and recommendations of things to do in a place you’re visiting. You should also use a local guidebook and ask your friends and family who have been there before.

If you don’t want to do all this research on your own but still want some help, hire a travel agent who specializes in travel arrangements for people who don’t know anything about the world around them (or just hate doing research).

Get there at the right time!

  • Get there at the right time!

The best time to travel to a new place is when you have the best chance of finding what it is you’re looking for and living the experience you came for. If you want to swim with dolphins, go in their mating season (about March through May). If you are interested in seeing local festivals, plan your trip around those dates. You may have heard that “travel is about getting lost” but if your goal is sightseeing and wandering around without purpose and direction then that is certainly true; however, if your goal is to find something specific or do something specific then planning ahead will help make sure that happens as well.

Bring a friend!

  • Bring a friend!

If you’re going to a place that’s unfamiliar, bring someone who knows it. A friend can help navigate and avoid getting lost, they can resolve issues that come up while traveling, they can be there to make you feel less alone in a strange place and keep you safe from harm.

Pick a place that has good public transportation.

If you’re completely unfamiliar with the area, public transportation is the best way to get around. This may sound like obvious advice, but it’s especially important when it comes to places you’ve never been before. Since public transportation is often the most efficient way to get from point A to point B in a city, it can also be helpful if you’re short on time and don’t want to spend hours wandering aimlessly through unfamiliar neighborhoods while trying to find your destination.

If you don’t know where you’re going or how long it’ll take for your train or bus route, ask someone who lives there (like your hotel concierge) or check online for the latest information before embarking on your trip—and always bring snacks!

Always have an umbrella.

  • They’re small and light, so they’ll fit in your suitcase or backpack.
  • They’re cheap to buy. You can get one for $5 at your local Target or Walmart, which means you don’t have to pay extra baggage fees when traveling with it on an airplane!
  • They are easy to use—you just open it up, stick out your arm and let the wind do the rest!

Ask as many questions as possible.

Asking questions is the key to any adventure, and it’s even more crucial when you are traveling to a place you know nothing about. As you move through your trip, be curious. Ask about the culture, history, people and their food and drink preferences. If you’re going somewhere tropical or arid (hot weather), ask what type of weather to expect and how things work in that kind of climate—you may need to pack more sunscreen or bring a raincoat!

If possible, ask someone who knows where you’re headed what they think is the best way to get around town: subway system? bus lines? taxis? Ubers? all of these options may be available depending on where your destination is located! You should also ask them if there are any free walking tours available in town—these tours can be an excellent way to learn about new places while getting some exercise at the same time!
